SUMMARY: Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
- Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
- Monitors students progress in and outside special education room.
- Monitors and manages student behavior.
- Maintains physical environment of the classroom conducive to students with special needs.
- Maintains contact with parents of students.
- Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions.
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP's, classroom observation records, and other forms.
- Assists in screening, evaluating and recommending placement of referrals in the Special Education Program.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and hold or be eligible for a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in the appropriate area of Special Education.
Current salaries range from a minimum of $37,000 to a maximum of $80,215. Salary will be commensurate with background, education and experience.
