Position Summary: 

 

The job of Nutritional Services Management Support is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for providing a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative assistance support to assigned administrator; conveying information regarding department functions and procedures; ensuring efficient operation of support functions; and ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the District's business operations in a customer centered, policy guided manner.

 

  • This job reports to the Director of Nutritional Services
  • This position is a 260-day, 7.5 hr./day, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
  • The starting salary range for this position is $43,727 - $69,323. Salary will be commensurate with full-time, parallel years of experience. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Assists parents and patrons (e.g., liaisons for parents, schools, and staff, ) for the purpose of providing information and developing support. Specifically, assists parents and patrons with refunds, donations, and all other meal account issues
  • Assists in coordination of a wide variety of projects, functions, and/or program components (e.g., Summer Meal Program application process, internal and external audits) for the purpose of providing office management for District Food Services Department.
  • Balances monthly nutrition services banking reports, budget transfers, bank reconciliations, cash flow, local and state revenue analysis and month end banking balances.
  • Creates Purchase Orders to include encumbrances, receiving and payment after approval.
  • Ensures all Nutrition Services vendors are paid in a timely manner.
  • Assist director in the preparation of the annual application for DESE.
  • Conduct necessary accounting procedures for monitoring the budget and make appropriate reports to the director and/or CFO.
  • Assist with the preparation of DESE year-end financial reports.
  • Processes free and reduced applications, direct certification and maintain meal accounts for the purpose of ensuring compliance with legal requirements and professional
  • Prepares a wide variety of processes, documents, reports, of a confidential and non-confidential nature (e.g. school nutrition agreements, revenue expenditure reports and other financial reports, safety inspections, student records for state and federal reporting and legal proceedings, ) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
  • Researches a variety of topics (e.g., current practices, policies, DESE manuals and standards, assessment information, ) for the purpose of providing information and/or recommendations that address a variety of administrative requirements.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

 

Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting/bookkeeping principles; business telephone etiquette; common office machines; concepts of grammar and punctuation; office methods and practices; District Special Services; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; and office practices.

Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Responsibility:

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; tracking budget expenditures. Work Environment:

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Experience: 3 + years Accounting or Bookkeeping background preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. B.S. Degree in related field preferred but not required.
