Position Summary:
The job of Summer Journey Prime-Time Associate is to assist with daily activities. This position involves supervising 15-16 children (i.e., 12 if incoming Kindergarten Age Group) during on-site and field trip activities (e.g., bowling, skating, swimming). Assisting with specific responsibility for organizing and directing age-appropriate activities for students, preparing, and serving snacks, and assisting in maintaining a clean and safe environment for students in the Prime-Time Summer Journey Program.
- This job reports to the Building Site Leads and Building Principal.
- This is a Part Time, Seasonal position.
- The hourly rate for this position is: $15.00.
- MUST BE 16 YEARS OF AGE.
Prime Time Program Hours and Details (please read thoroughly):
- 9:00 am – 3:00 pm: May 28
- 6:30 - 8:20 am and 3:30 - 6:00 pm: June 1 – June 25. Closed June 19th
- 6:30 am - 6:00 pm June 26 – August 14. Closed July 3rd
Your attendance during Summer Journey is extremely important. We hire summer staff based on the numbers of students. Proper staff/student ratio is extremely important. If you have vacations planned or expect to be gone more than 10 days this would be a hardship for our program.
Please be sure to discuss vacations, or time off that you are aware of with the Site Lead so they can determine if this will work for our Summer Journey 2026 program.
Mandatory Professional Development Session: A professional development session will be held for ALL Prime-Time Summer Journey staff on Thursday, May 28th at Lucy Franklin Elementary from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the building. A light breakfast will be provided with lunch on your own. Please arrive no later than 8:45 am to be checked in. All employees must have their pre-employment paperwork and testing completed prior to May 22nd, 2026.
Essential Functions:
- Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
- Assists the Prime-Time Lead with organizing and monitoring appropriate activities (e.g., games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing play and academic concepts.
- Communicates with teachers, parents, and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing Prime Time Summer Journey Program objectives.
- Distributes instructional and/or play materials and assists with set up of classrooms for the purpose of providing required supplies to be ready for student learning.
- Escorts children directly from/to classes, parents, guardians, or designee for the purpose of ensuring safety of children and meeting established custodial guidelines.
- Manages various support and related clerical activities (e.g., preparing attendance reports, assembling/hanging materials on bulletin boards and keeping displays current, operating standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the Prime-Time Summer Journey Program is running smoothly.
- Maintains program equipment and work areas (e.g., toys, games, instructional tools, computers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing a safe learning environment.
- Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g., playground activities, snack time, group/individual games, lunchroom, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Organizes indoor/outdoor, quiet/active play activities appropriate to age groups for the purpose of actively participating in learning activities with children.
- Prepares logs, reports, and documents (e.g., monthly lesson plans, supply lists, behavioral/accident reports, etc.) for the purpose of conveying information, providing written reference, and/or meeting mandated requirements.
- Promotes good habits through interactions with other kids for the purpose of improving the quality of students’ outcomes and encouraging student development on good social and personal skills.
Other Functions:
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Prime-Time Program.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; controlling and motivating students; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include stages of child development; age-appropriate activities; and positive reinforcement techniques.
Ability is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; and working as part of a team.

Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Must be 16 years of age to be eligible for employment.
Equivalency: A typical qualifying background would include high school diploma or general education degree, with one-year experience in day care or related work.
